Shorashim – digital album

The essence of this album is a selection of songs from our repertoire. We invite you to join us on a musical and cultural journey of immigration and integration of the Jewish cultural heritage. Come wander with us as we share everyday tales of community, love, nostalgia and optimism.

We have named this album „Shorashim“ – the Hebrew word for „roots“: As complex as the root system of a tree, each piece represents aspects of the musical and cultural diversity that inspired its creators as they settled and integrated in their new places. All of these songs grew out of the thoughts and personal stories of Jewish poets and composers as they made their way through the Diaspora, and in some cases, back to Israel. Whether it is an American swing-song in Eastern European Yiddish, or an old love song in Ladino, the Romance language of Sephardic Jews, which later found its way to Israel and was then also translated into Hebrew. Both songs symbolize the growth of Jewish roots in their new homelands.

It is a matter of our heart to bring together the diverse musical genres with the cultural heritage of Jewish linguistic diversity. We hope you can immerse and fully experience the journey.
